- Albion surgery leads the way in new concept in vet care
BRISBANE, April 20, 2015 – The dogs and cats of Brisbane’s inner-north have cause to celebrate: the Albion Veterinary Surgery is the first in Australia to join a new national group of vet clinics, and to mark the occasion it’s providing free wellness checks for pets.
Pet owners can take advantage of longer opening hours (8am-6.30pm Monday to Friday; 8am-2pm Saturdays) to contact the surgery and, until the end of May, book in a free check-up for their beloved companions.
The new veterinary team of Dr Amanda Darbishire and Dr Nina Korst has brought a fresh energy to the popular vet practice at 97 Albion Road and they are looking forward to meeting all the area’s furry and feathered residents. Under the new ownership of National Veterinary Care, the practice has made a significant investment in new equipment, including X-ray, laboratory and ultrasound, as well as a state of the art patient management system, all designed to provide the best possible care for the area’s pets.
National Veterinary Care (NVC) acquired the practice in March as the first in a planned national community of veterinary professionals, aimed at maximising the time vets can spend treating their patients. NVC is well advanced in plans to list on the Australian Stock Exchange this year, and the Albion surgery will be a ‘proof of concept’ for how the new approach to veterinary care will work.
NVC Chief Executive Tomas Steenackers said, ‘Like pet owners, veterinarians are pet people—they want to spend as much time as possible caring for their patients. NVC reduces the paperwork burden associated with running a vet practice, and the vets can do what they do best: provide excellent medical care and advice.
‘The Albion Animal Surgery will form a key part in our plans to expand that level of care to vet practices all across Australia.’
